Is This Tournament a Good Fit?
This free monthly tournament runs over four weeks with a leisurely classical time control (90 minutes per side plus 30-second increment), making it ideal for players who want serious chess without the intensity of a one-day event. Three sections accommodate players from beginners through 1800+, with flexibility to play up a section if you're near the cutoff. It's a perfect fit if you're based in Chicago and prefer unhurried, thoughtful play.
